Four Winds is hosting its 16th Annual Powwow and would like for you and your organization to be part of its success. The powwow will be held September 6-7, 2008, at the Killeen Special Events Center, on South W.S. Young Drive in Killeen, Texas.
The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau has awarded us the 1996-2006 Killeen Shining Star Awards for hosting the Four Winds Powwow. They honor those who greatly impact the area economy and promote Killeen by bringing a convention or event to town. Some years we bring over 8,000 people into Killeen for our two-day event.
We are seeking committed sponsors who will help us achieve success in this event. Four Winds Intertribal Society, Inc. is a 501C3 tax-exempt organization with the IRS, registered with the Texas Secretary of State and the Texas Comptroller's Office. We can provide you with the necessary papers to file with the IRS for your tax deductible sponsorship.
Letter from the Sponsorship Chairman
Four Winds Intertribal Society, Inc. was formed in November of 1992. Our mission was and still is to welcome Native Americans and non-Native Americans to join together in an effort to educate ourselves and the general public in the areas of Native American tribal cultures, history, and arts. Our goal is the promotion of unity between all peoples.
Four Winds is dedicated to preserving and demonstrating the heritage of Native Americans. Comprised of over 70 native and non-native Americans, we encompass more than 12 federally recognized tribes. We provide a means for Native Americans in the area to meet with other Native Americans, while providing non-Native Americans the opportunity to learn about Native American cultures. While reaching our goal, we hope to educate the local communities about Native American cultures.
Our organization has achieved many successes during the past nine years. We were awarded five Shining Star Award by the Killeen Convention and Visitors' Bureau for our work in bringing our annual powwow and its many followers into the area economy. We have been a recipient of the Killeen Arts Commission grant for our work in preserving an art form and teaching about a minority culture through song, dance, regalia, arts and crafts, and sculpture.
